Compact multi-actuator control
The R-net ISM2 family controls up to 14 actuators through slimline two-, four- and six-channel modules, supporting complex seating movements across as many as 25 axes. Manufacturers can configure customized up-and-down behaviour for each axis while preserving chassis and seat space on modern narrow-wheelbase powerchairs. Fine position control is intended to support smooth, predictable movement, and users may access up to eight clinician-defined memory positions when enabled by system programming.
Development, sensing and safeguards
Curtiss-Wright’s Seat Architect tool lets designers construct, model and validate seating movements on screen before downloading a complete seating file, replacing manual coding with a simulation-based workflow. Inputs support rotational, linear, tilt, voltage and digital sensors, while modules include onboard tilt sensing. Programmable angular limits, axis inhibits, seat-condition logic and virtual inhibits can restrict inappropriate movements, clashes or driving according to seat position. Detailed diagnostics identify affected channels or inputs.
Regulatory support and demonstration
The platform includes an Emergency Mode for individual channel operation and return to a transfer position. The ISM2-2L adds LED lighting control plus a programmable brake-light or external horn output. Curtiss-Wright says the system is independently TÜV-certified and supplied with documentation supporting FDA 510(k) submissions and MDR CE marking. The company is showcasing ISM2 at REHACARE 2026, held September 23–26 in Hall 6, stand F58.
