Cameras, LiDAR and turning assistance, explained.

Three different functions

A rear-view camera presents a view behind the chair. LiDAR measures distances using light. Turning assistance changes how a chair responds during a turn. These functions should not be treated as interchangeable.

Try the real task

Ask to see how the supplied system works around a doorway and while reversing, at a suitable demonstration location. Confirm which modes are available and how you know whether assistance is active.

Ask about the limits

Ask what the sensors detect, where their coverage ends and how the chair behaves when assistance is unavailable. The user still needs to understand the controls and surroundings.

Confirm the exact configuration

Features can change by model, software version and market. Request the relevant manual and ask whether an app, phone connection or subscription is needed.
