From customization to volume

Create it REAL says Programmable Foam has moved beyond individually customized products into serial production. The Swedish AireRx wheelchair cushion line, developed with local partner Salubrious, is presented as a commercial example. The company also cites successful Swedish tenders that generated commercial orders and demonstrated the approach at larger scale.

Digital manufacturing system

Programmable Foam digitally defines a cushion’s structure before printing and forms part of an integrated system combining printers, materials and software. Each cushion is linked to a proprietary identification record, enabling specifications to be reproduced across multiple units. The technology has been tested and certified, according to the source.

Production and sustainability options

The cushions use a single material, eliminating glue and hard edges within the structure. Create it REAL says the process is designed to reduce material waste, support durability and enable material reuse. Organizations can operate an in-house print farm, outsource production to the company’s facility or use its print-on-demand service. The system also supports individualized cushions, seats and orthopedic devices. Create it REAL presented the technology at REHACARE 2026 in Düsseldorf from September 23 to 26, covering customized seating and serial production.
