A folding chair for shore visits
The couple used a folding wheelchair for longer excursions through gardens and towns. The ship stored it for them, while Mary walked on board and when boarding or leaving. Their choice of vessel also took its lifts into account.
Conditions changed from stop to stop
Rough cobblestones, sand and steps restricted some visits. Mary stayed outside parts of certain attractions. Their report is useful precisely because it describes these limits: a trip that worked with some walking ability should not be presented as suitable for a traveller who needs to remain in a powerchair.
