Extra reach for an assisted transfer
The MPL XR is described by Mobility in Motion as an extended-reach version of the Milford Person Lift. Its August feature explains that the lift can reach below its mounting point, addressing the height difference between a wheelchair and some taller vehicle seats. The article said it would replace the current model on the Motability Scheme from 1 September.
The person and the chair follow different paths
This equipment assists a person into a vehicle seat. Once that transfer is complete, the unoccupied wheelchair still needs to be stored or loaded. Confusing a person lift with a boot hoist can leave half of the journey unresolved.
A complete vehicle assessment should demonstrate both paths in the actual space available: where the helper stands, how the passenger reaches the seat and what happens to the chair afterward.

Installation determines the usable arrangement
The phrase extended reach does not establish compatibility with every SUV. The installer needs the exact vehicle and seating position, together with the individual transfer requirements. Training and a demonstrated return transfer belong in the handover, because getting out of the car may present a different sequence from getting in.
