Leadership transition

Douglas joined Birdie last week and will work with Parmentier through October before taking over at the start of November. Parmentier has led the homecare technology company since co-founding it in 2017, and will remain involved as chair. Douglas previously led consumer fintech TotallyMoney and was part of Peakon’s founding team before its acquisition by Workday.

Product and AI development

The leadership change follows milestones Birdie says it reached during 2026. Its Upgraded Rostering product places templated scheduling alongside care, compliance and finance records, with the company stating that it can make schedule creation up to 75 per cent faster. Birdie also launched SmartPlans, an AI-powered care assessment tool, earlier this year, while SmartMeetings is planned to follow later in 2026.

Company scale and continuity

Parmentier said Birdie’s platform supports more than 1,200 agencies serving 125,000 care recipients, and described the company as the UK’s leading homecare software provider. Those are company claims. Incoming CEO Douglas said he intends to build on Birdie’s technology-led approach. Co-founders Rajiv Tanna and Abeed Mohamed will continue as chief operations officer and chief revenue officer, respectively.
