Manufacturing visit

The Dudley MP toured Savaria’s manufacturing floor, research and development centre, showroom and warehouse during an event organised for Make UK’s National Manufacturing Day. She met local team members and saw a range of products, including stairlifts and platform lifts. The visit also introduced the engineering expertise supporting Savaria’s accessibility solutions and UK operations.

Regional employment

Savaria’s Kingswinford operation supports research and development, central business functions and local production. The company says the site employs approximately 210 people and serves as a hub for more than 350 UK-wide employees and field-based teams. Savaria works with local authorities, housing providers, trade partners and other organisations to provide stairlifts, wheelchair lifts and home lifts.

Sustainability and access

Savaria reported that its Kingswinford team is incorporating 6.16 tonnes of plastic containing 95 per cent post-consumer recycled material into packaging covers, reducing virgin plastic use. The company said accessibility solutions can help people remain independent at home. Kumar, a former NHS physiotherapist, highlighted skilled manufacturing careers, while Savaria executive Michael Hunter emphasised the people and engineering expertise behind the operation.
