Look beyond the maximum user weight.

Capacity is a limit. Seat fit and everyday support are personal.

Look beyond the maximum user weight.

Confirm the exact limit

Use the manufacturer’s current specification for the exact chair. Ask how carried items and accessories affect the permitted load; do not select a chair whose limit is below the required load.

Check the seat dimensions

Compare seat width and depth, foot placement and the backrest. A higher capacity does not automatically mean the seat is the right size.

Try a longer demonstration

Spend enough time trying your normal activities to notice reach, posture and support. A seating professional can help assess individual needs.

Compare complete weight too

A higher-capacity model can change the way the chair fits in a car or is lifted. Check the whole routine, including support from another person.
