Emma: a family break with the right support equipment

Emma’s family stay in Fife shows why bedroom, bathroom and outdoor access can matter as much as a holiday’s destination.

A summary of the author’s own trip. Access details describe that visit and should be checked again before booking. Emma explicitly discloses a paid collaboration with Homelands Trust.

Equipment that supported the stay

At Largo Lodge, Emma describes accessible bedrooms, ceiling hoists and a wet room. She requested a shower commode chair because a wall-mounted seat did not suit her. Space and level patio access helped her spend time with family.

The beach needed a different setup

For a nearby beach outing she used a manual beach wheelchair pushed by relatives. She reports that no hoist was available there during the visit. The contrast is useful: accommodation access and activity access still required separate planning.
