The two ZS models on the scheme
Two ZS variants appear on current dealer Motability price lists. The ZS SE 1.5 5-speed manual is the petrol entry point, and the ZS Hybrid+ Trophy 1.5 automatic is the hybrid flagship of the pair. Both are five-seat cars, and both are leased by exchanging your qualifying mobility allowance, with any Advance Payment paid on top. The table below shows the list figures published by MG dealers for the current quarter.
Model | DLA/PIP Advance Payment | WPMS Advance Payment | Weekly rental MG ZS SE 1.5 5-speed Manual | £299 | £nil | Total allowance MG ZS Hybrid+ Trophy 1.5 Auto | £699 | £nil | Total allowance
Weekly rental is shown as total allowance because the whole mobility allowance goes to the lease. That is the normal Motability pattern: the Advance Payment is the only extra cash you pay at the start, and the weekly allowance covers the rest for the length of the lease.
Why some dealers show £0
If you shop around, you will see the same cars advertised at £0 Advance Payment. That is not a different national price: it is a dealer contribution. One MG dealer's current page lists the ZS SE manual as was £299, now £0, and the Hybrid+ Trophy as was £699, now £0, after its own contribution, while another dealer's page shows the same two cars at the £299 and £699 list figures with a dealer contribution offer running to 31 December 2026. The lesson is practical rather than complicated: confirm whether the £0 figure is a dealer contribution, when it ends, and whether it applies to the exact trim you want, before you place an order. Motability prices are set quarterly, so a figure that is right in November may change in January.
What the lease package includes
The ZS lease is the standard worry-free Motability package, which is part of why the car appeals to first-time scheme customers. Insurance for up to three drivers is included, as are servicing and maintenance, full RAC breakdown assistance, annual road tax, and tyre and windscreen replacement. The mileage allowance is 60,000 miles over the three-year lease. If you need adaptations, such as hand controls, steering aids, or a winch to load mobility equipment, raise them with the dealer's Motability specialist at the start: adaptations are commonly discussed as part of the order, and the dealer can tell you which ones can be fitted to the ZS and whether there is any extra cost.
Who can order and what to take to the dealer
The scheme is open to anyone receiving a qualifying mobility allowance with at least 12 months remaining on the award, including the higher-rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment or Disability Living Allowance, the enhanced mobility rate of Adult Disability Payment, Child Disability Payment, Armed Forces Independence Payment, or War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement. Take your driving licence and the licences of any other named drivers, your award letter, and proof of address such as a recent utility bill. Book an appointment with the dealer's Motability specialist rather than turning up cold: they can check current pricing, confirm the dealer contribution, and talk through adaptations and delivery times.
