The update
Sunrise Medical announced that the QUICKIE Q300 M Mini can be specified with Dynamic Controls LiNX as well as PG Drives R-Net. The announcement expands the control options available in the US range.
Why controls deserve a demonstration
When comparing chairs, ask how the controls can be positioned and adjusted for you. A comfortable joystick position and suitable response matter alongside width, seating and turning space.
Questions for a supplier
Ask which control system is included in your quotation, who can adjust its settings and what local support is available. This announcement does not mean that every existing chair can be retrofitted.
Start with the task, not the electronics name
A choice of control systems becomes meaningful when it changes how comfortably someone can use their chair. Explain your usual hand position, how you approach furniture and which adjustments you find difficult. Ask the person demonstrating the chair to show the relevant setup rather than only describing the available technology.
It is useful to try the arrangement while performing ordinary movements, including approaching a table and stopping where you intend. Discuss changes with the supplier or clinician responsible for your setup; do not assume a showroom configuration is the right one for you.
Our perspective: compare the support arrangement too
Two quotations can use the same chair name but include different controls, seating or accessories. Ask for the control system to be named in writing, together with the options that are actually included. That makes the comparison easier to revisit after a demonstration.
Also ask who can make adjustments after delivery and how you would arrange help if the setup does not suit you. The availability of a control option is only the beginning of the decision. The practical value comes from having it configured appropriately and supported over time.
