What folding changes—and what it does not
The Model F folds into a narrower shape for storage and transport. That can make a hallway, closet or car boot easier to manage. It does not remove the main lift into a vehicle. Before choosing it, measure the doorway, storage space and boot opening, and decide who will lift or load the device.
Run the sequence in both directions: approach the vehicle, power down, fold, load, unload, unfold and resume driving. If a seller demonstrates only the fold, the most demanding part of the journey may remain untested.
Read the weight in the right configuration
WHILL's U.S. Model F listing gives a device weight of 58.9 lb (26.7 kg) with its 6 lb battery attached. WHILL's help information gives 52.9 lb without the battery. These figures describe the main device, not a guarantee that a particular person can lift it safely or that every accessory has been removed.
Compare the weight and lifting method you will actually use. Ask whether a loading aid, a second person or a different vehicle setup is needed. A much lighter figure quoted for another folding chair may exclude more components, so compare like with like.

Space and fit questions
The U.S. specification lists a 30.7-inch turning radius and 253.5 lb user capacity. It also shows armrest width choices of 16 and 18 inches, with corresponding device widths. Check which configuration is offered locally and how the seat, foot support and controls fit the user. A turning-radius number is useful context, but the chair still needs a trial through the actual doorways and turns that matter.
During the trial, notice control reach, small steering corrections, seating comfort and the route from the chair's storage place to everyday destinations. Ask for the exact manual and configuration sheet rather than relying on a generic product-family description.
Travel and support
WHILL describes the Model F as suitable for air travel, but an airline must still accept the actual chair and battery on the intended flight. Provide the carrier with the battery and device details and agree the handling method before travel.
For longer-term ownership, confirm who performs repairs in your area, which parts a local seller stocks and what happens if the seller closes. WHILL's U.S. warranty policy describes different periods for the frame, cushions and electrical or mechanical components, and says repair labour can be charged separately by sellers. Terms vary by market and purchase route; ask for the written terms that apply to you.
Who should shortlist it?
The Model F is worth a trial when folding storage is valuable and there is a realistic loading method for its weight. It deserves more caution when the choice rests only on an expectation of effortless one-person lifting. Record the trial's actual configuration and repeat the full journey before treating a specification sheet as a decision.
